$150 Investing Challenge - September 2019 Report

$150 Investing Challenge - September Report

I have been doing the $150 Investing Challenge since January 29th, 2018. This is the results of investing $150 each month for over a year.

As of 9/30/2019 investment date (all $150 Investing Challenge investments are made between the 26 - 30th of each month):

Investment Month Number: 21
Amount Invested Each Month: $150.00
Funds: Large Cap Index Fund, Medium Cap Index Fund, Small Cap Index Fund, and International Index Fund
Total Amount Invested: $3,150.00
Total Account Value: $3,289.59
Total Expected Value: $3,340.61
Total Annualized Rate Return: 5.17%

In September, we saw some positive outlook towards trade and the growth of the future and therefore stocks started to recover. This happens often, at least nowadays. Again, 5.17% is great, but it isn’t the 7% I’m aiming for.

When we break it down as far as our different funds we get a sneak peek of how the 5.17% is made up of:

  • Small Cap: 0.14%

  • Medium Cap: 6.90%

  • Large Cap: 9.92%

  • International: 3.45%

Obviously the Small-Cap and International are still dragging the entire fund right now, but it is showing all positive. Medium is not the 7% we’re looking for, but then again, that is what averages do. Depending on how the future goes when it comes to investments may dictate whether or not we start to get above the 7% we’re looking for.
