The S&P 500 Index Fund Challenge
$65.00 invested each month
1 investment purchased each month
S&P 500 Index Fund
There is no end date for this challenge
Warren Buffett has famously said over and over again that you can’t beat the market, so just invest in the S&P 500 and you’ll at least get the market’s return. Not that we’re trying to beat the market, but why not follow that logic…$65 at a time.
$65.00 a month doesn’t sound much, but here is what could happen if you were to get an average 10% return:
As you can see, after 45 years, you could potentially have $356,190.34 assuming you can achieve a 7% return. All it takes is $65. For some of you who are reading, you might not have 50 years, but after 20 years, you would have a balance of $34,057.75 on only $15,600 of investment.
Some additional information on this challenge:
All dividends and capital gains distributions are reinvested into the securities. Those numbers are often not included in the amount invested when reviewing the investing challenge reports.
At Financial Grit, we do not recommend investment options nor do we offer investing advice. You should contact a qualified professional when making investing decisions.
Each month, I will prepare a investing challenge report and it will be posted right here so you can watch the process. It is not always good news, but it will show you where our investment balance is at that particular time.
